The music of Jean Rohe, Hector Morales & Afrodita is a collective of similar but subtly different musical souls, connected by a desire to build bridges and create powerful cultural statements. Jean Rohe's vocals weave a soundscape that is hard to resist-full of air and light one minute, forceful and committed the next. Whether fronting her own unique group or adding presence to Afroditas'dynamic Afro Peruvian style, she brings beauty and imagination to the song.Hector Morales, a native of Lima Peru, is the founder, composer, percussionist, and lyricist, for the eclectic Afrodita; the sound of Afro-Peruvian music in the NYC metropolitan area. Under his guidance, the complex rhythms and melodies take shape and fly.Through these eight amazingly talented musicians, a sound is being created that reflects the multicultural tapestry of our world today. In the rich history of classical Indian music, Shafaat Khan is a rare talent, having attained excellence on three different instruments Sitar, Surbahar, and Tabla. Being a scion of one of the most respected and renowned families of musicians of India, Shafaat Khan represents the eighth generation in a family whose lineage can be traced back over 400 years. At the age of 11 Shafaatullah debuted at the Kingslynn festival in England (opened by the Queen Mother). He has subsequently performed worldwide at such prestigious venues as the Acropolis, Royal Albert Hall, The Great Hall of the Kremlin, Lincoln Center, Suntory Hall, and the Smithsonian Institute. His television credits include a program shared with Ray Charles on Bio, several BBC programs, Philadelphia's WYBE networks, and many other telecasts worldwide. In addition to performing in numerous festivals and concerts, Shafaatullah Khan has also led lecture-demonstrations and conducted workshops at college campuses throughout the country, including Harvard University & UCLA. Recently he released a series of three CDs entitled The Rhythms of Nature, which were produced by Dr. Deepak Chopra.
